Lewes Colts take good win

Nick Page writes:- Lewes played host to Chichester in a game that had been rescheduled a number of times. Lewes got off to a dream start with a try by Richard Titheradge beating the Chichester defence to a grubber kick through the line by Jon Pitts in their 22 which, on a swirly windy day, went unconverted.

This appeared to lull Lewes in to a false sense of security and they took their minds off the game. Chichester went on to quickly score two unconverted tries from good attacking play down the left flank.

Lewes managed to pull the game back to level before half time with a good break from inside their own half which enabled the backs to effectively move the ball out for George Page to cross the line for another unconverted try.

After the break Lewes effectively took control of the game with the backs moving the ball round the pitch assisted by some good play from second row and wing forwards. George Page scored his second try soon after the restart. This was soon followed by three tries from James Halpin and one from James Dunnill. Jon Pitts managed to convert three.

The game finished with Lewes scoring 41 points against 10 to Chichester, effectively ensuring that Lewes keep the teams above them in the league in sight.

  1. Another nice Vid guys! Who does them for you?

  3. Myles’ Dad films the matches and Myles edits it down on his new Christmas toy – does a good job.

Good numbers of Colts this year – those not going away to Uni/Work etc. next season are being actively encouraged to stay and play for Lewes in whichever team. Be great if there’s a concerted effort to get 4 teams out next season!
