Lewes 2s narrowly defeated in Sussex cup game

On Sunday 1st March 09 a patched up Lewes 2s team playing their second game of the weekend narrowly lost 15-13 in a bruising encounter with a committed Heathfield 2nd XV. This was a Sussex County cup game and came at an inconvenient time for Lewes.

Unfortunately the team sustained injuries leaving 3 players in hospital. The team particularly send their best wishes to Fergal and hope he makes a speedy recovery.

Lewes enjoyed the advantage in terms of territory and possession for much of the game. There was fine work from the skipper Sean Sayers and good tactical control from Pittsy at 10. Lewes looked the better side for a lot of the game but two games in one weekend took its toll and the task proved too much with Lewes just losing out to some fine work by Heathfield mainly from their 13.

A special ”thankyou” to the young players from the colts helping out the 2nd xv who all credited themselves with excellent displays, one of whom - Matt - shared the MoM trophy with Big Joe for highly committed performances. Thanks also to the many supporters that came along to support Lewes. It was much appreciated.
